At Weaver, we believe that great teams are built through collaboration in the workplace and shared experiences outside of it. Our recent company trip to Guangzhou, China was the perfect blend of cultural immersion, relaxation, and camaraderie, bringing our colleagues closer together. This 4-day, 3-night journey offered a refreshing break and a deeper appreciation for China’s rich heritage.
Day 1: Stepping into history
Our adventure began at the magnificent Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, which is dedicated to the founding father of modern China. Standing in the grand auditorium and learning about his legacy instilled in us a sense of historical significance and pride. Next, we explored the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, where the intricate beauty of Cantonese architecture and craftsmanship left us in awe. The wood carvings, stone engravings, and ceramic sculptures were a true feast for the eyes.
Later, we visited Shamiandao Island, a charming colonial enclave with tree-lined avenues and European-style buildings. Walking through this peaceful neighbourhood felt like stepping into a different era. It was the perfect setting for team photos and light-hearted conversations.

Day 2: Culture, innovation, and the city skyline
Our second day took us deep into the cultural core of Guangzhou. The Guangdong Museum was a highlight for many, showcasing fascinating exhibitions on local art, history, and natural science. It was a perfect opportunity for everyone to engage with Guangdong’s legacy beyond just sightseeing.
As the sun began to set, we headed to the city’s most recognizable landmark – the Canton Tower. Towering over the skyline, it gave us panoramic views of the sprawling cityscape. But the day didn’t end there. We boarded the Pearl River Night Cruise, where the dazzling lights of the Canton Tower and the city reflected beautifully on the water. The gentle breeze, music, and vibrant ambiance made for a memorable evening with laughter and bonding.

Day 3: Exploring foshan’s cultural heart
We traveled outside of Guangzhou to Foshan, a city renowned for its contributions to Chinese culture. The Foshan Ancestral Temple pays tribute to martial arts, folk culture, and traditional performances. From lion dances to kung fu demonstrations, we experienced the Lingnan spirit in its purest form.
Then, we wandered through Foshan Lingnan World, an area full of traditional Cantonese-style buildings and lively local scenes. The team also enjoyed a relaxing stroll through Qing Hui Yuan, one of Guangdong’s four famous gardens, where pavilions, ponds, and lush greenery created a tranquil retreat.

Day 4: A picturesque finale
On the last day, we explored the beautifully restored old neighbourhood of Yong Qing Fang, which blends history with a modern lifestyle. It was the perfect place to experience local snacks, crafts, and culture while enjoying some free time together.
Our last stops were two stunning cultural gems: Bao Mo Yuan, a breathtaking garden estate with flowing canals and traditional Lingnan architecture; and Sha Wan Zhen, an ancient town known for its preserved folk houses and cultural depth. These stops provided a peaceful and fitting end to our journey, allowing everyone to relax, reflect, and take in the beauty of southern China.

This trip wasn’t just about sightseeing. It was about sharing moments, building relationships, and creating lasting memories beyond the office. Every place we visited sparked new conversations, laughter, and even a few “wow” moments that reminded us why we’re proud to be part of the Weaver family.
